Laurie Cramer
Executive Director, Autism Society Greater Akron
Laurie Cramer is the Executive Director of the Autism Society of Greater Akron. Laurie was hired as the first staff member in 2011, of what had been an all-volunteer grassroots organization. Prior to becoming Executive Director, she had a career in communications that began in Washington, D.C., where she was a press secretary to two Congressmen, and a communications strategist for public affairs firms and national trade associations. Laurie and her husband moved to his hometown of Akron in 2003, where Laurie was Chief Information Officer for the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office. Laurie’s passion to support a better life for individuals living with autism comes from her family’s personal journey. Laurie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Florida State University and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Development from George Washington University. Laurie is married to Gregg Cramer, and they reside in Fairlawn with Philip, a young adult with autism; her other son, Robert, is a college student.
