Water is part of everyday life, from bathtubs and pools to beaches and community recreation spaces. For many families in the Autism community, aquatic environments can present both opportunity, joy, and serious risk.
AuQUA Life was created to address this challenge. It ensures that Autistic individuals and their families can safely access and benefit from aquatic environments. Safety, education, and support are urgently needed.
Autism is lifelong yet support systems often focus primarily on childhood. As individuals grow older, families frequently encounter gaps in coordinated services related to safety, recreation, community inclusion, and employment. These gaps are especially critical in relation to water.
Autistic individuals are 160 times more likely to drown than their neurotypical peers. Water safety education and swimming instruction are urgently needed. More than 60% of U.S. children lack basic water safety skills. Many families must handle these challenges alone.
The need for water safety education, inclusive recreation, and workforce pathways continues to grow, but many families still face barriers to accessing these resources. Together, AUQUA Life initiatives create a coordinated model that integrates education, community engagement, and real-world opportunities.
Support for AuQUA Life Helps:
• Expand free water safety education for families nationwide.
• Increase access to inclusive aquatic programming.
• Strengthen community connections for Autistic individuals.
• Create employment pathways and long-term opportunities.
By investing in AuQUA Life, supporters help protect lives, expand access, and build opportunities for the Autism community.
Together, we can ensure that Autistic individuals and their families never have to navigate these waters alone.
Stay Tuned! Our AuQUA Life Caregiver Series will be launched during Water Safety Month in May 2026!
