Rockville, MD, July 30, 2024– The Autism Society of America is excited to announce the launch of the Autism Society Training and Resource Center, an online learning platform offering training courses, and high-impact resources. This new platform will strengthen connections to training and resources on a national scale,  tailored to support the diverse needs of the Autism community.

Our new Training and Resource Center will significantly increase the Autism Society’s capacity to meet the growing needs within the community, ensuring that everyone is connected to the resources they need, when they need them.” states Christopher Banks, President and CEO of the Autism Society of America. 

The first course available on the platform is a Foundations of Autism course package designed to provide an exploration of Autism, introducing basic concepts and key characteristics.  The course package includes: 

Foundations of Autism – The Basics: This course introduces basic concepts and characteristics of Autism. Participants will learn about Autism, key characteristics, neurodiversity, prevalence, co-occurring conditions, and intersecting identities.   

Foundations of Autism – Beyond the Basics: This course expands on topics introduced in Foundations of Autism – The Basics, providing a deeper understanding of Autism and highlighting a range of experiences. Chapters include content on information processing, sensory processing, communication, emotional regulation, social interactions, other common Autistic characteristics, and will end with the Autism Society’s vision for acceptance, inclusion, and belonging. 

The Foundations of Autism courses are online and self-paced. Participants can work through the content at their own convenience.  A certificate of completion will be provided to those completing the course package. To celebrate the launch of its new Training and Resource Center, the Autism Society is offering a $10 coupon for those that enroll in the Foundations of Autism course package by August 13, 2024.
